Mme E.A. Whitehead fonde le Ladies Montreal Curling Club, le premier club de curling féminin au monde. À l’époque, ses membres louaient la glace du Montreal Curling Club, alors exclusivement masculin. En 1924, ce dernier reçoit un mandat royal et devient le Royal Montreal Curling Club. Pour refléter ce changement, le club féminin adopte le nom de Ladies Branch of the Royal Montreal Curling Club, tout en conservant son autonomie administrative.
